Job summary

JPMorganChase is seeking a Senior Director of Software Engineering for Lending Technology in New York. You will lead leaders and senior engineers to modernize commercial lending workflows and platforms, partnering with bankers, product, and operations to translate business needs into roadmaps and measurable delivery.

You will set engineering standards prioritizing reliability, security, and speed while managing budgets, staffing, and vendor usage.

Qualifications

• 10+ years of applied software engineering experience.
• 5+ years leading technologists (managers of managers).
• Proven ability to modernize workflow-heavy enterprise systems.
• Strong fundamentals in system design, distributed systems, reliability, secure development.
• Ability to partner with non-technical stakeholders (bankers/operations).
• Experience leading multi-organization adoption of AI-enabled engineering models.
• Budget ownership experience (planning, forecasting, expense mgmt).
• Quantitative background in calculus or statistics.
• Strong communication with engineers and business partners.

Responsibilities

• Set and uphold engineering standards across architecture, reliability, security, and delivery.
• Translate business needs into roadmaps, scope, and measurable outcomes.
• Drive operational excellence through automation, observability, and incident management.
• Lead design reviews and mentor senior engineers and engineering leaders.
• Establish governance and standards for AI-enabled delivery and SDLC automation.
• Drive cross-domain reuse and capacity unlock outcomes across departments.
• Make disciplined build, buy, and reuse decisions based on value and risk.
• Define metrics and use data to improve product decisions and controls.
• Own budget planning, forecasting, and expense management; adjust spend as needed.
