Job summary

The National Western Center in Denver seeks a Senior Director of Event & Guest Services to lead the strategy, planning and execution of all events and to oversee the guest experience, tours, volunteer programs, ushering and related services.

You will manage budgets, contracts and a cross‑functional team, partnering with operations, sales and marketing to ensure events run smoothly and align with organizational goals, with a mix of on‑site and remote work.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Event Management or related field.
• 5–7 years of experience in event planning and department management.
• Strong leadership and mentoring of staff.
• Experience in arenas, conventions, stadiums, or event campuses is helpful.
• Role is physically demanding: standing, walking, lifting, bending.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• High EQ and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Strategic reporting on event management for executive and board meetings.
• Manage workload of the Event Management team and assign events.
• Develop and implement comprehensive event plans aligned with goals.
• Create and manage event budgets, ensuring cost effectiveness.
• Supervise and lead the team throughout planning and execution.
• Attend industry events and maintain industry presence.
• Oversee guest experience lifecycle from arrival to departure.
• Coordinate with operations, sales and marketing to prepare for events.
• Review analytics for client satisfaction and brand values.
• Support usher, volunteer, information, gift shop, and greeter programs.
• Anticipate needs of VIPs and special visitors.
• Collaborate with partners on event needs.
• Oversee post-event evaluations and settlements.
