Job summary

LVI Associates in New York is seeking a Senior Director, Environmental Management & Permitting to lead environmental strategy and permitting across a growing portfolio of large-scale energy and infrastructure projects.

The role oversees permitting staff, coordinates with engineering and legal teams, and provides executive guidance on risks, pathways, and regulatory strategy. It requires 15+ years of experience and deep knowledge of CAA, CWA, NEPA, ESA.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required in environmental science, engineering, policy, or related field.
• 15+ years of progressive experience in environmental permitting and energy infrastructure.
• Experience leading permitting programs for complex utility-scale projects.
• Extensive knowledge of federal and state environmental regulations (CAA, CWA, NEPA, ESA).
• Experience coordinating with USACE, USFWS, SHPO, and state agencies.
• Strong leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead development and execution of environmental permitting strategies.
• Direct federal, state, local permitting efforts under CAA, CWA, NEPA.
• Oversee due diligence programs incl. Phase I/II and surveys.
• Manage permitting activities across project lifecycle.
• Represent firm in regulatory negotiations and hearings.
• Translate technical findings into business recommendations.
• Lead and develop permitting staff across multiple projects.
• Manage external consultants, procurement, and QC.
• Coordinate with engineering, legal, regulatory teams.
• Establish permitting standards and records management.
• Provide executive updates on permits and risks.
• Monitor evolving environmental regs and impacts.
