Job summary

LS Power in New York is seeking a Senior Director, Environmental Management & Permitting to lead environmental workstreams across a generation development portfolio. You will oversee permitting strategies, due diligence, and stakeholder engagement from site origination through construction, ensuring alignment with project schedules and budget.

The role demands 15+ years in environmental permitting for energy projects, senior leadership experience, and strong regulatory relationships with USACE,

Qualifications

  • Expert command of environmental permitting frameworks applicable to large-scale power generation (Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act, NEPA, ESA, NHPA).
  • Experience permitting complex energy infrastructure, preferably combined-cycle facilities.
  • Credible with regulatory agencies, community stakeholders, and executive leadership.
  • Ability to manage multiple high-priority workstreams with rigorous documentation discipline.
  • Experience leading teams of environmental professionals and managing third-party consultants.

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and execution of environmental permitting strategies across the portfolio.
  • Direct federal, state, and local permit applications (e.g., PSD/NSR, Title V, 401/404, NEPA).
  • Coordinate with Site Selection & Planning to ensure consistency and support local permitting.
  • Oversee due diligence and survey programs (Phase I/II, wetlands, species, cultural resources).
  • Represent the company in regulatory negotiations and interagency consultations (USACE, USFWS, SHPO).
  • Translate due diligence findings into risk assessments, mitigations, and go/no-go recommendations.
  • Build and lead a high-performing permitting team; manage consultants and contractors.
  • Ensure alignment with engineering, construction, interconnection, legal, and regulatory teams to support timelines and commercial objectives.
  • Define standards for permit files, document control, and audits; maintain governance-ready records.
  • Prepare and present permitting status updates and mitigation plans for executives.
