Job summary

Dahl Consulting seeks a Director of Risk Management to lead enterprise risk management initiatives, oversee corporate insurance programs, and guide risk mitigation decisions. This is a permanent, remote role with 20-30% travel, reporting to executive leadership.

The ideal candidate brings 10+ years in risk management within insurance, deep knowledge of P&C and E&O, and strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills to influence brokers, insurers, and legal teams for balanced risk

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Risk Management, Finance, Business, Insurance, or a related field.
• 10+ years of progressive experience in risk management at an insurance brokerage.
• Extensive experience analyzing and negotiating commercial insurance coverages, policy language, exclusions, and endorsements.
• Deep knowledge of property, casualty, professional liability, E&O, and other commercial insurance programs.
• Experience managing insurance claims, carrier relationships, broker relationships, and renewal cycles.
• Proven ability to evaluate risk exposures and develop practical, cost-effective mitigation strategies.
• Strong contract review and negotiation experience.
• Demonstrated success presenting recommendations and influencing senior business leaders and stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead enterprise and operational risk management across the organization.
• Develop and improve risk management policies, procedures, and best practices.
• Direct the placement, renewal, and administration of corporate insurance programs across multiple lines.
• Perform insurance coverage analysis and evaluate terms, endorsements, exclusions, and limitations.
• Review and negotiate insurance provisions within contracts and commercial agreements.
• Manage complex claims activities, reporting, investigation, and loss prevention strategies.
• Estimate reserves for known claims and exposures with stakeholders.
• Lead insurance renewal cycles and evaluate coverage options for cost efficiency.
• Collaborate with brokers, insurers, and leadership to address coverage questions and negotiate risk transfer solutions.
