Job summary

AIG seeks a Complex Director Excess Claims to lead critical coverage decisions and manage high-dollar claims nationwide from New York and beyond. The role requires strategic investigation, decisive negotiations, and effective collaboration with insureds, brokers, underwriters, and counsel.

Ideal candidates will have 5+ years in commercial claims, strong negotiation and litigation management skills, and licenses for Property and Casualty within six months.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of Commercial/Industry claims experience.
• Strong negotiation and communication skills.
• Advanced experience in litigation claims management including ADR/mediation.
• Experience handling cases from pre-suit through post-trial, at mediations and settlement conferences.

Responsibilities

• Determine scope and extent of available coverage.
• Investigate, evaluate and disposition of new and existing 3rd party property and casualty claims.
• Prepare and execute investigation strategies addressing liability, causation, damages and risk transfer opportunities.
• Communicate clearly with insureds, brokers and underwriters to guide expectations.
• Document exposure evaluation and resolution strategy.
• Present claim disposition recommendations to senior management.
• Negotiate multimillion-dollar claims with top plaintiff attorneys nationwide and document thought process.
• Budget litigation with counsel and vendors, establishing ground rules for financial control.
