Job summary

Nationwide is seeking an Executive Underwriting Director in Brokerage Excess to lead strategy, financial performance, and growth for a regional Excess portfolio while leveraging strong broker and program manager relationships.

As Director, Brokerage Excess, you will oversee territory results, manage broker relationships, guide marketing and territory planning, and mentor underwriters in a fast-paced E&S/S environment.

Qualifications

• Undergraduate studies in a related discipline, or equivalent. Bachelor's degree preferred.
• Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter (CPCU) designation preferred.
• Eight years underwriting experience, handling large or complex programs and accounts preferred.
• Knowledge of Excess & Surplus lines underwriting policies, practices and procedures, standard and alternative Rating plans and plan concepts, treaty & facultative reinsurance, regulatory issues, the general agency system, marketing principles and company operations.

Responsibilities

• Lead strategy, financial performance, and growth for the Excess portfolio within territory or region.
• Manage relationships with brokers, program managers, and other producer channels.
• Develop territory/region business strategy and objectives; monitor financial metrics.
• Drive marketing visits and broker performance; mentor junior underwriters.
• Analyze accounts for pricing, coverage, and risk; ensure quality submissions.
• Oversee production goals and ensure attainment of premium and loss ratio targets.
