Job summary

Capital One seeks a Sr. Director of Data, Models, and AI Risk Management for its Retail Bank division.

The role partners across Enterprise teams, Second Line of defense, and Technology to identify and mitigate AI and data risks while enabling innovation and protecting customers, shareholders, and associates. Responsibilities include building risk oversight across data risk areas, leading a high‑performing team, and delivering clear risk reporting to executives.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or military experience.
• At least 10 years experience in Technology Risk, Data Risk or Model Risk.
• At least 8 years of People Management experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide departmental oversight and serve as SME regarding AI risk across diverse control domains.
• Keep pace with the speed of AI.
• Identify and implement continual program enhancements based on industry standards and best practices related to data and AI risk management.
• Partner with Retail Bank Tech and Business teams to assess their compliance with the divisional and enterprise data and model management requirements.
• Build and maintain risk oversight processes across key data risk areas including data quality, data lineage and traceability, data transformation, and data usage in LLM and AI.
• Apply a solid understanding of control environments to proactively mitigate risks.
• Influence control owners and other stakeholders to build consensus on risk mitigation and remediation strategies including new risks from AI.
