Job summary

Alteryx in the United States (remote-first) is seeking a Senior Director of User Experience to lead four design leaders and about 30 designers globally. This senior role shapes AI-powered and agentic experiences, grounding design in strategy and rigor while partnering with product, engineering, and leadership.

You will scale the design organization, set processes, establish metrics, own budgets, and advocate for design excellence across the portfolio.

Qualifications

• 15+ years in product design, including 6+ years leading design managers or leads (not just individual designers).
• Experience leading multiple design teams at once across a broad product portfolio; complex, technical, or data-heavy products is a plus.
• Genuine enthusiasm and point of view about designing AI-powered and agentic experiences, not just familiarity with the trend.
• Ability to operate across all levels, from strategy with executives to hands-on design feedback.
• Experience building and running design operations at scale: resourcing models, metrics, review cadences, and tooling.
• Experience managing distributed, global teams across time zones.
• Knowledge of design systems, accessibility, and localization; know when to defer or weigh in.

Responsibilities

• Evolve the design vision and strategy for AI-powered and agentic experiences, ensuring trustworthiness and usefulness.
• Represent design in senior leadership forums and defend quality under commercial pressure.
• Partner with product management, engineering, and executives to shape roadmaps and user-centric decisions.
• Translate customer signals into design direction with cross-functional leaders.
• Build and run the operating model for a 30-person, globally distributed design organization.
• Set processes, design metrics, budgets, and scale design-ops across teams.
