Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) - New Horizons-Residential Care in Austin, TX is seeking a Direct Support Professional IV. This full-time role supervises direct care staff, ensures quality active treatment, and may assume Unit Director duties in absence.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is preferred.
• Two years’ experience working with people with developmental or physical disabilities.
• Experience in a supervisory role.
• Valid Texas driver’s license or ability to obtain within 90 days after hire date.
• Fingerprint criminal background check, pre-employment drug screen, and registry checks required.
• All State Supported Living Center Employees are subject to Random Drug Testing.
• Must be willing to work weekends and holidays.
• Minimum age 18.

Responsibilities

• Attends work regularly and may be required to work a specific or rotating shift schedule.
• Plan and supervise work schedules to ensure adequate coverage and staff/individual ratios.
• Monitor and document individual participation and progression for effective communication with staff.
• Ensure efficient delivery of care, training, and support on the unit through supervision of activities and staff.
• Attend meetings and serve on committees as directed by leadership.
• Ensure the home is maintained as a safe and sanitary living environment.
• Plan, assign, and supervise work of others.
• Assist in transporting individuals to activities and in emergencies as needed.
• Participate in disaster response/COOP and other agency responsibilities as required.
