Job summary

FleetPride seeks a skilled Technician III to maintain and repair heavy-duty vehicle systems, train junior technicians, and drive quality service. You’ll diagnose complex issues, perform preventive maintenance, and ensure safety and compliance in a non-climate controlled shop environment.

Ideal candidates have a Diesel Technology degree, 7+ years on Class 7/8 trucks, and experience with 53’ trailers, welding, and diagnostics.

Qualifications

• Diesel Technology degree or equivalent.
• 7+ years with heavy-duty Class 7/8 trucks.
• Experience repairing 53’ trailers.
• Training experience with technicians.
• Diagnostic experience on vehicle systems.
• Welding experience across metals.
• Must provide hand tools, air tools, and toolbox.
• Maintain a perfect safety record.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Examine vehicles to determine extent of damage or malfunction(s).
• Train new service shop employees on company procedures.
• Inspect orders for completion and quality before delivery.
• Perform inspections and preventative maintenance on vehicles and equipment.
• Perform oil changes, lubrications and filter replacements.
• Repair, reline, replace, and adjust brakes (air, hydraulic, electric).
• Test drive vehicles and test components with proper equipment.
• Troubleshoot suspension systems including leaf/coil springs.
• Troubleshoot electrical, exhaust, steering, A/C and PTO systems.
• Adjust, remove and replace clutches and drivelines.
• Overhaul and repair diesel and gasoline engines.
• Troubleshoot fuel tanks, fifth wheels, hitches, and frames.
• Perform tandem alignment and king pin repairs.
• Weld basic aluminum and steel as needed.
• Review service stories to determine tasks for timely completion.
• File, grind and smooth surfaces; finish with power/hand tools.
• Maintain clean, organized workspace.
