Job summary

City of Winston-Salem is seeking a journeyman level mechanic to diagnose and complete major repairs on diesel vehicles, including trucks and off-road construction equipment. You will perform preventative maintenance and prepare vehicles for service.

The role requires ASE certificates, a CDL within 12 months, and a complete tool set. Strong mechanical knowledge and adherence to safety policies are essential.

Qualifications

• Two years' experience in automotive equipment repair.
• Completion of 10 automotive repair training courses.
• Four ASE certificates must be obtained within two years.
• Valid Commercial Driver’s License within 12 months of employment.
• Must have complete set of mechanics hand tools.

Responsibilities

• Performs preventative maintenance services and tune ups.
• Prepares new vehicles for service.
• Repairs air conditioning systems, brake systems (including anti-lock brakes), and other major repair tasks.
• Maintains safe work zones and follows applicable safety policies and procedures.

Education

Two years' repair experience

ASE certifications
