Job summary

Summit Exercises and Training LLC is seeking a DHS CBRN/WMD Detection Operations SME to support the Mobile Detection Deployment Unit in Portland, Oregon. The role requires deep expertise in CBRN detection, 24/7 readiness, and training for federal, state, and local partners.

You will maintain MDDU equipment readiness, conduct nationwide detection operations, and lead or assist training and exercises. This position requires travel, strong communication, and a SECRET clearance.

Qualifications

• Experience in chemical, biological, radiological and/or nuclear detection with emphasis on radiological/nuclear detection.
• 5+ years' experience in radiation detection training and detection operations at events or steady-state operations.
• Knowledgeable with representative detection equipment: PRD, RIIDs, mobile systems.
• Ability to safely handle radioactive sources and use auxiliary equipment such as radios.
• Able to perform maintenance and multi-step troubleshooting with vendors.
• Ability to obtain/maintain a SECRET level clearance and DHS suitability.
• Able to lift up to 50 pounds and have strong verbal written communication.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office; valid driver's license with CDL within six months.

Responsibilities

• Track and maintain care and custody of MDDU equipment and radioactive sources.
• Conduct inventories and update tracking information.
• Ensure equipment is repaired, calibrated, and ready for deployment 24/7.
• Perform or assist CBRN detection operations with federal, state, and local agencies.
• Coordinate deployments and report on progress to team leads and clients.
• Prepare after-action reports and provide status updates as required.
• Travel 50–75% of the month within contiguous US to support program needs.
