Job summary

Collins Aerospace, managed by RTX, seeks a Principal Software Engineer (DevSecOps) in San Jose, CA to lead DevSecOps tooling, environments, and workflows across AST. Onsite role requiring TS/SCI clearance and U.S.

citizenship, with deep expertise in modern CI/CD, security tooling, and cloud-native pipelines. The role emphasizes collaboration with cross-disciplinary teams and hands-on guidance to engineering groups, including system provisioning, automation, and secure software development

Qualifications

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience.
• Experience managing enterprise applications such as Atlassian Jira/Confluence; Gitlab; Cloudbees CI (Jenkins); Artifact repositories (JFrog Artifactory, Sonatype Nexus Repository, Pulp)
• Software Supply Chain Security tools (JFrog Xray, Sonatype Lifecycle, Black Duck)
• Container and Orchestration tools (Docker, Podman, Kubernetes, Helm)
• Secrets management tools (AWS Secrets Manager, GitGuardian)
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines and scripting languages (Python, Go, Groovy, Bash, Perl)
• Linux system administration and Red Hat-based distributions
• Virtualization tech (KVM, VMWare, Hyper-V)
• Ability to obtain TS/SCI security clearance; U.S. citizen required

Responsibilities

• Foster alignment across AST’s DevSecOps ecosystem with RTX and Collins teams.
• Manage the AST’s DevSecOps development environment, tooling, and workflows.
• Coach and enable engineering teams to adopt AST’s DevSecOps practices.
• Install, configure, and maintain enterprise DevSecOps applications and plugins.
• Handle system migrations, integrations, and user provisioning.
• Provide project support, troubleshooting, and best-practice documentation.
• Travel up to 25% domestically.
