Job summary

Slate is hiring a Senior DevOps Engineer to build and operate a hybrid Kubernetes platform spanning AWS EKS and self-managed clusters. You’ll write infrastructure as code in Python using AWS CDK and collaborate with Digital and Data teams to deliver environments and pipelines that support production workloads.

You will own CI/CD workflows, GitHub Actions, and deployment patterns, and participate in on-call rotations. A strong AWS/Kubernetes background plus startup adaptability are essential.

Qualifications

• 6+ years in DevOps or related infra roles with production responsibility.
• Strong AWS experience across IAM, VPC, EC2, EKS/ECS, Lambda, RDS, S3, Route 53, CloudWatch.
• Kubernetes experience on EKS and self-managed clusters.
• Proficient in Python and infrastructure as code; AWS CDK preferred.
• Experience with GitHub Actions, CI/CD, containers; GitOps tooling.
• Excellent communication and collaboration in a fast-paced startup.
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.

Responsibilities

• Build and run hybrid Kubernetes platform across AWS multi-account setup.
• Develop Python tooling and AWS CDK infrastructure.
• Partner with Digital, Data Engineering teams to support environments and pipelines.
• Own CI/CD workflows and GitOps deployment patterns.
• Participate in on-call rotation and incident response.
• Document runbooks and design notes.
