Job summary

ModMed is seeking a Senior DevOps Engineer 2 to ensure reliability, performance, and scalability of our AWS cloud platform. You’ll work with Kubernetes (EKS), Helm, Kafka, and cloud-native solutions while keeping legacy Java apps stable on EC2.

You’ll focus on automation, cost optimization, and applying SRE principles, mentoring juniors, and driving self-service capabilities for faster velocity across teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of Cloud Engineering/DevOps/SRE experience.
• Strong hands-on experience with AWS, Kubernetes (EKS), Helm, and Kafka.
• Proficiency with Terraform and Ansible; scripting in Python or Bash; Java or Go preferred.
• Familiarity with FHIR/HL7 healthcare tech and VPN networking patterns.
• Deep cloud networking, security, and scalability expertise.
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing large-scale cloud infra.

Responsibilities

• Architect and manage secure, scalable cloud infrastructure with automation focus.
• Lead Infrastructure as Code development using Terraform, Helm, and Ansible.
• Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for Kubernetes apps and EC2 workloads.
• Implement observability with DataDog for real-time monitoring and proactive resolutions.
• Drive Kubernetes containerization and orchestration initiatives.
• Design and optimize event-driven architectures with Kafka.
• Collaborate with developers to enable self-service platform features and velocity.
• Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of learning.
