Job summary

Western Alliance Bank is seeking a Principal Engineer I to lead DevOps platform efforts, defining target architectures and governance for secure, compliant, and reliable solutions. You will mentor teams, develop AI components, and create Power BI dashboards to provide insights across multiple environments.

The role requires deep DevOps expertise, strong communication, and the ability to collaborate with IT leadership and business partners to drive modernization with a cloud‑first approach.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field; Master’s/MBA preferred.
• 8+ years IT experience with 5+ years supporting DevOps platforms.
• Hands‑on with Azure DevOps and/or GitHub Enterprise.
• Experience building reusable AI components (agents, prompts, templates).
• Hands‑on experience with Power BI.
• Experience with SAST/DAST/SCA tools (e.g., SonarQube, Invicti, GitHub Advanced Security).
• SDLC and DevSecOps best practices; strong agile understanding.
• Strong communication and cross‑functional collaboration skills.

Responsibilities

• Define and implement target state architecture for DevOps tooling across multiple teams.
• Implement governance and security controls for AI‑assisted workflows.
• Leverage GitHub Copilot and AI agents to accelerate development, testing, and docs.
• Collaborate with Cloud Architecture for modernization strategy with a cloud‑first mentality.
• Establish standards for SCM, CI/CD, test automation, and security scanning.
