Job summary

HP IQ in San Francisco, CA is seeking a Software Engineer specializing in Device Security to build secure, privacy-aware technologies for HP IQ's AI-enabled devices. You will collaborate with security, firmware, OS, hardware, and cloud engineers to protect data and bolster product security throughout the lifecycle.

You will implement security features across embedded systems, PCs, and servers, with focus on secure boot, cryptography, device identity, and secure communication.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/CE/EE or related field.
• 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Programming in C, C++, Java or similar.
• Foundational security concepts: secure boot, cryptography, authentication, access control, PKI, sandboxing.
• Experience in embedded, Linux, AOSP, Windows environments.
• Understanding of SDLC practices.
• Ability to collaborate with engineers and cross-functional partners.
• Strong interest in device security, cryptography, privacy, and secure systems.

Responsibilities

• Develop security features for embedded and connected devices (secure boot, key management, encryption).
• Design and implement secure software components with established architectures.
• Collaborate across CoreOS, Firmware, Design, Hardware, and Cloud Services.
• Develop in C, C++, Java across embedded/Linux/AOSP/Windows environments.
• Contribute to TrustZone, TEE, kernel-level security apps with guidance.
• Implement secure communication between devices and services.
• Work with biometric sensors to support secure data flows.
• Participate in threat modeling, security reviews, testing, remediation.
