Job summary

HP Inc. seeks a Software Engineer focused on Device Security in San Francisco. You will build secure, privacy‑oriented features across embedded devices and PCs, collaborating with security, firmware, OS, hardware, and cloud teams to protect customer data.

You will work on secure boot, cryptography, device identity, secure communications, and data protection while contributing to the full development lifecycle across Linux, AOSP, and Windows environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in a technical field.
• 2–4 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficient in C, C++, Java or similar.
• Foundational security concepts: secure boot, cryptography, PKI, access control.
• Experience in embedded/Linux/AOSP/Windows environments.
• Understanding of debugging, testing, code reviews, and SDLC.

Responsibilities

• Develop security features for embedded and connected devices (secure boot, key management, encryption).
• Contribute to secure software components using established security architectures.
• Collaborate across CoreOS, Firmware, Design, Hardware, and Cloud Services to integrate security capabilities.
• Develop in C, C++, Java across embedded, AOSP, Linux, or Windows environments.
• Assist with threat modeling, security reviews, vulnerability analysis, testing, and remediation.
