Job summary

The American Heart Association in Chicago is seeking an Associate Vice President, Development to lead the Heart Ball fundraising effort and coach a small team in securing sponsorships and donations from corporations and individuals. The role focuses on meeting revenue targets and driving engagement across the Chicago market.

As a hands-on player/coach, you will develop local strategies, manage events, and partner with communications to promote the Heart Ball campaign, while guiding staff toward

Qualifications

• 3+ years in fundraising or outside sales or nonprofit work.
• 3+ years in a management capacity; internal project work may substitute.
• University/College degree or equivalent experience.
• Strong verbal and written communication, including group presentations.
• Ability to read, comprehend and analyze numbers; spreadsheet/database skills.
• Ability to travel daily up to 70% with reliable transportation.
• Ability to lift/move large objects as needed.

Responsibilities

• Drive fundraising across Chicago with an impact of $5 million.
• Prospect and secure local corporate sponsorships and individual donations.
• Guide and direct assigned staff to reach goals.
• Identify, recruit and manage executive volunteer leadership with cultivation plans.
• Develop profiles on top Chicago businesses with a plan to secure involvement.
• Implement event logistics based on national best practices.
• Collaborate with Communications Director on promotion plans.
