Intellectual Property Office is seeking a Senior Developer to design, code, test and document enterprise applications in a cloud-first Azure environment using C# and Python. You will work in a multi-disciplinary squad, contribute to technical strategy and ensure governance standards are met.

The role supports hybrid work arrangements, with at least 20% onsite presence at an IPO office, and requires proficiency in Azure, DevOps, Git and modern delivery methods like Scrum/Agile.

Qualifications

• Excellent understanding of C#
• Experience in Web Services and/or RESTful APIs
• Good understanding of architectural principles with design patterns such as SOA and Micro-Services
• Experience writing SQL statements
• Experience with cloud technologies including Azure
• Working knowledge of Azure DevOps
• Experience with Git
• Advocate of DevOps principles

Responsabilités

• Collaborate with test engineers to agree acceptance criteria, code base and test coverage
• Proactively investigate problems and opportunities in existing processes, communicating findings and recommendations
• Identify and manage defects, incidents, risks and issues per IPO standards
• Work in a multi-disciplinary team to deliver user-focused digital services respecting governance standards
• Implement toolkits and APIs for integration, performance, security and scalability
• Apply open-minded, fail-fast approaches to deliver required functionality
• Apply HMG IA security controls according to ISO 27001 & SPF
• Contribute as a key player in delivering technical solutions on large projects
• Experience with modern delivery models such as Scrum and Agile
• Work with Azure cloud technologies and DevOps practices

Description du poste

You will need the appetite to learn new technologies and methodologies for delivering high quality IT services. In this role you will work within a multi-disciplinary squad using several technologies to build enterprise grade services. You will be expected to be proactive and take accountability for assigned deliverables. The role will also require the investigation, diagnosis and fix of any system issues. A Senior Developer is expected to contribute to the technical strategy for the department.

As a multi-skilled individual, you will have the opportunities to develop and mature skills in a core role but extend this to skills typically aligned to other role types. You will have a high level of input in defining which additional skills you can develop.

Working Style

This role will be carried out in-line with IPO Hybrid working arrangements where staff are currently expected to spend at least 20%of their time working onsite from one of our offices. This role is based in our NewportOffice.

The requirement for attendance at an office location can vary by role so we would encourage candidates to discuss working arrangements with the recruiting manager to agree a reasonable balance between working from home and the office.

The IPO holds a visa sponsor licence however; this role is not eligible for sponsorship under the Skilled Worker route. Candidates will therefore need to have an existing right to work in the UK at the time of application.

Main duties consist of but are not limited to:

• Be responsible for the design, coding, testing and documentation of small scale to large, complex or mission critical applications and solutions in a cloud first environment using MS Azure with C# and Python
• Work closely with test engineers to reach a common understanding of acceptance criteria, the code base and test coverage
• Proactively investigate problems and opportunities in existing processes, evaluating and communicating findings and recommendations to stakeholders
• Identify and manage defects, incidents, risks and issues in line with IPO standards
• Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver highly user focused and successful digital services ensuring governance standards are adhered to
• Implement toolkits and APIs for purposes such as integration, performance optimisation, security and scalability
• Keeping an open mind and exploring innovative ways to solve problems, working in a fail-fast fashion to provide required functionality
• Proactively apply HMG IA technical security controls according to ISO 27001 & the Security Policy Framework (SPF)
• Has been a key player in delivering technical solutions as part of a large projects
• Experienced with modern delivery models such as Scrum and Agile
• Experience of working with cloud technologies including Azure
