Job summary

DoorDash is seeking a Senior Detection Engineer for Protective Services. This remote US role focuses on building detections across enterprise telemetry, marketplace signals, OSINT, and physical security events.

You will own detection lifecycles, implement analytics, and collaborate with investigators on active cases to strengthen protective capabilities. The role emphasizes on-call rotation, mentoring, and developing scalable detection-in-code pipelines using Python/Go and SQL-based query

Qualifications

• 7+ years in detection engineering, alert development, threat hunting, or security operations.
• Experience building production detection pipelines with source control, testing, deployment, and monitoring.
• Proven automation that improves detection accuracy, speed, or investigative quality.
• Experience building agents or LLM-backed tooling for detection/investigation.
• Strong investigative judgment and ability to translate threat intel into testable hypotheses.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on detection engineering translating threat signals into custom alerting.
• Implement risk-based analytics to reduce alert volume and provide context for investigators.
• Build, test, deploy, and operate detection-as-code pipelines at scale.
• Integrate telemetry from enterprise, marketplace, OSINT, and physical security signals into detections.
• Work with structured and unstructured data, applying rules, ML, and LLM-backed techniques to improve detection.
• Develop automation tools to improve detection efficacy and investigative workflows.
• Own the detection lifecycle from hypothesis to deployment and retirement; maintain libraries.
• Coordinate with partners on threats targeting DoorDash and lead protective initiatives.
