Genius AI in NYC is seeking a Senior Design Systems Designer to lead our design system at scale. You’ll own standards, build a robust component library, and partner with engineering to streamline Figma-to-production handoffs.

You bring 4+ years in design systems, expert Figma skills, and a portfolio showing system-wide impact. You’ll drive tokens, accessibility, and governance, contribute to the rebrand, and mentor teammates.

Qualifications

• 4+ years of product design with significant focus on design systems or design infrastructure.
• Portfolio showing strong UI craft and end-to-end product thinking.
• Proven track record owning and scaling a design system in production.
• Expert-level Figma skills: components, variables, auto layout, libraries, prototyping.
• Deep systems thinker, scalable design from day one.
• Strong cross-functional collaborator aligning engineers, PMs, designers.
• Ability to articulate and defend design decisions clearly.
• Mobile-first mindset.
• Experience with tokens, accessibility, documentation, and contribution models.
• Nice to have: AI tools like Cursor or Claude.

Responsibilities

• Own the vision and execution of the design system, defining standards and adoption.
• Architect and maintain a robust component library for mobile and web.
• Lead design tokens, Figma libraries, variables, and naming conventions.
• Drive design-to-dev handoff with engineering to reduce friction.
• Champion accessibility, quality, and craft standards across components.
• Own documentation and governance for easy adoption across the org.
• Play a key role in the rebrand, ensuring consistency of the new visual language.
• Identify tooling efficiencies, including AI-powered workflows, to improve velocity.
• Mentor and collaborate with other designers to raise craft levels.
• Influence roadmap and prioritization for the design systems team.
