Job summary

AXA XL, the P&C and specialty risk division of AXA, seeks a Claims Specialist – Design Professional to manage and resolve professional liability claims for architects and engineers. You will collaborate with regional leaders, brokers, and insureds to own critical issues and proactively drive favorable outcomes.

You will work across jurisdictions, set reserves, partner with defense counsel, evaluate settlements, and maintain strong client service with all stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; JD preferred.
• Experience handling professional liability claims.
• Active insurance adjuster licenses for applicable states or willingness to obtain them.
• Proactive and organized file handling with ability to prioritize multiple claims.
• Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
• Ability to collaborate with claims management, insureds, brokers and counsel.
• Ethical and client-focused approach with continuous improvement mindset.
• Public speaking and marketing involvement encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Proactively manage Design Professional liability claims across jurisdictions, including initial review, coverage evaluation, and strategy development.
• Set and monitor appropriate reserves and maintain clear stakeholder communications.
• Partner with defense counsel on effective litigation strategies.
• Evaluate settlements and participate in mediations and negotiations.
• Coordinate communications with clients, brokers, reinsurers and other stakeholders to ensure high service levels.
• Ensure documentation is complete and align with Claims Handler Guidelines.
• Maintain strong relationships with insureds and brokers and review contracts for insurability when needed.
• Engage in marketing and promotional activities as part of the role.
