Job summary

Mott MacDonald is seeking a Design Manager to lead the technical integrity, coordination, and delivery of multidisciplinary rail design solutions for major projects in North America. The role reports to the Project Manager and collaborates with the senior leadership team to ensure contract-compliant technical outcomes.

Ideal candidates have 15+ years in infrastructure or transit with rail project experience and hold a New York PE license.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or other appropriate degree required.
• Should have experience with rail infrastructure project.
• Minimum of 15 years’ relevant experience in the infrastructure and/or transit industry managing rail or transit projects.
• Professional Engineering License in New York State.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary design coordination and delivery of rail design solutions.
• Act as the single accountable design authority for technical coherence and design suitability.
• Provide design team with contract materials and design scope to deliver within budget and schedule.
• Coordinate with stakeholders to meet project aims and benefits.
• Support development of WBS, CBS, and OBS to align design with milestones.
• Interface with client and contractor teams on technical and process matters.
