Job summary

Vogrinc Search Group is assisting a client, a manufacturer of temperature sensors, compression seal fittings, and cable assemblies, in recruiting for a Senior Engineering Manager role in the Buffalo, NY area.

The position leads product design engineering, guides technical decisions, and develops engineers while ensuring project delivery and high product quality. Strong experience in design reviews, verification, and cross-functional collaboration is required.

Qualifications

• Progressive product design engineering experience with responsibility for complex design decisions.
• Ability to guide engineers through difficult design problems and reviews.
• Strong communication with customers, commercial teams, and senior leadership.

Responsibilities

• Lead and develop the engineering team, set priorities, allocate resources, and manage commitments.
• Provide hands-on technical direction for product architecture, mechanical design, materials selection, tolerances, and design verification.
• Lead concept, preliminary, and detailed design reviews; challenge assumptions and resolve technical risks before release.
• Translate customer performance, environmental, and interface requirements into clear engineering specifications and validation plans.
• Oversee drawings, bills of materials, design calculations, engineering changes, and controlled product release.
• Partner with sales and customers on technical feasibility, application requirements, proposals, and custom product solutions.
• Collaborate with manufacturing and quality to improve manufacturability, address field or production failures, and support new product introduction.
• Build engineering capability through coaching, clear technical standards, and consistent design and project management practices.
