Job summary

Southland Industries is seeking a Senior Design Engineer in Cincinnati, OH to lead design-build and design-assist projects across healthcare, education, biotech, mission critical, commercial and entertainment sectors. You will collaborate with model coordinators, estimators, and field staff to deliver practical, cost-effective designs while leveraging VDC and CFD tools.

The role requires a four-year engineering degree and 5+ years of experience with HVAC/plumbing systems, plus a PE license.

Qualifications

• Four-year degree in Engineering or related field.
• 5+ years experience in design.
• PE License required.
• Excellent knowledge of HVAC, plumbing design and system operations.
• Ability to read mechanical and plumbing plans.
• Strong communication skills with all stakeholders.
• Public speaking skills.
• Proficient in Revit, CADD, and MS Office.
• Four-year degree in Engineering or related field.
• PE License required.

Responsibilities

• Serves as design professional at project team meetings.
• Prepares complex preliminary redline design layouts for estimating.
• Performs complex calculations (heating/cooling loads, equipment sizing, friction loss).
• Performs site inspections to ensure conformance with construction documents.
• Supervises or directs workflow of less-experienced engineers in HVAC or system design.
• Provides conceptual design for specific projects.
