Job summary

Safran Seats in Gainesville, Texas, is seeking a Design Engineer 3 to contribute to the development of high-quality seats for global aircraft programs. The role focuses on concept configurations, design reviews, and interface with customers and vendors to meet program requirements.

With a background in mechanical design and aircraft seat knowledge, you will support layout creation, design standardization, and BOM preparation while driving efficient task completion and adherence to specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (or 12 years equivalent experience in lieu of degree).
• Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• +5 years of related design experience with a Bachelor's degree.
• +4 years of related design experience with a Master's degree.
• Experience in aircraft seat product design is required.
• Excellent drafting skills in CATIA V5 or Pro/Engineer.

Responsibilities

• Confers with customers and vendors on design requirements for seat programs.
• Reviews design specifications and incorporates into the product.
• Prepares layouts of overall design tasks including structural and articulation systems.
• Defines design standards to maintain commonality with existing product line.
• Sets goals to complete tasks expeditiously.
• Prepares advanced bill of materials and long-lead item lists.
• Review design package for conformance to latest specifications and regulations.
• Prepares drawings for release.
