Job summary

RTX is seeking a senior Mechanical Design Engineer in Middletown, CT to design components for Fan/LPC and HPC modules and to support MCE fleets. You will develop layouts, perform cost studies, and ensure compliance with engineering standards.

The role requires a BS in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 8+ years of design experience (advanced degree acceptable) and US citizenship. Relocation assistance may be available; compensation ranges from $107,500 to $204,500 annually.

Qualifications

• B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 8+ years of mechanical design experience.
• Advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
• Experience with hardware, reading blueprints, and manufacturing methods.
• Experience with engineering standard work and with Class I and/or II EC process.
• U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.

Responsibilities

• Design support across all phases of the design cycle from preliminary to detailed design and validation.
• Support existing MCE fleets through improved component commonality and optimization.
• Expand repairability and maintainability for customers and MRO facilities.
• Develop standard work and layouts to present design proposals.
• Review layouts, calculate stack-up, and perform major cost studies.
• Resolve complex design problems to ensure on-time project completion.
• Coordinate with engineering to ensure project completion and provide technical leadership.
