Job summary

RTX is seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Design Engineer to design components for fan modules and support the F135 fleet. The role requires hands-on experience with hardware, blueprints, and manufacturing methods, and eligibility to obtain a U.S. security clearance.

This onsite position is based in Middletown, CT, USA. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical or aerospace engineering, with advanced degrees preferred, and be prepared to lead design efforts, collaborate

Qualifications

B.S. in Mechanical or Aerospace engineering with 8+ years of mechanical design experience.
Advanced degree with 5+ years of experience.
Experience with hardware, reading blueprints, and manufacturing methods.
U.S. citizenship is required and ability to obtain a U.S. government security clearance.

Responsibilities

Design support across all phases of the design cycle from preliminary to detailed design, validation, and service.
Support the existing F135 fleet through enhanced component commonality and optimization.
Expand repairability/maintainability for military customer and MRO facilities.
Develop standard work and procedures to optimize efficiency and quality, including data layouts and drawings.
Review layouts and calculations to ensure accuracy and adherence to standards.
Coordinate with engineering to ensure project completion and provide technical leadership.
