Job summary

Jacobs is seeking a senior technical leader to join our national bridge practice, focusing on long-span and complex bridges across the Americas. You will lead design teams, manage multi-office staff, and spearhead engineering analysis, design, and construction support services for high-profile projects.

The role involves signing and sealing documents, client interaction, and collaboration with business development, estimating project costs, and proposal preparation.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in structural engineering or related discipline.
• PE license with ability to obtain license in multiple states; SE license is desirable.
• A minimum of fifteen years of demonstrated professional experience including Engineer of Record or Lead Engineer in charge of final design, preparation of construction documents and construction support services.
• Experience in cable-stayed, arch, segmental bridges, in-water foundations, erection engineering, rehabilitation of complex steel bridges.
• Proficient with Design-Build and other forms of alternative delivery (e.g. Progressive Design/Build, P3 and CM/GC).
• Proven leadership on complex bridges, leading multi-discipline design teams.
• Established professional network with client and contractor community.
• Be a recognized thought leader in the long-span bridge marketplace.
• Solid understanding of design codes for highway and rail/transit bridges.
• Proficient knowledge of Midas, RM Bridge, CSiBridge, LARSA 4D, Sofistik.

Responsibilities

• Represent Jacobs’ technical capabilities within your area of expertise in assigned locations and markets.
• Lead staff for engineering analysis, design and development of contract documents for long-span and complex bridges.
• Sign and seal contract documents, ensuring compliance with codes and standards.
• Plan and coordinate staff and project personnel across offices.
• Direct Project Engineers, Engineers and Technicians to meet schedules and budgets.
• Ensure overall quality and coordination, manage client interfaces, and uphold Jacobs’ reputation.
• Mentor and upskill staff engineers; lead thought leadership in the field.
• Represent Jacobs in client meetings and industry conferences; contribute to business development.
