Job summary

Houston Methodist is seeking the Department Administrator to serve as the administrative leader and senior management consultant to the Department Chair. This role drives strategic information, financial accountability, and administrative infrastructure for providers, faculty, and staff, covering patient care, academic, and research missions.

The position oversees department operations, staffing, budgeting, compliance, and policy development to ensure quality, safety, and a positive patient

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in business, healthcare, or closely related field.
• Seven years in health care, finance, or related field with five years of management experience.
• Experience in a physician organization or clinical practice setting.

Responsibilities

• Directs, develops and implements strategic and operational/high-level projects and processes.
• Oversees staff development, staffing decisions, and performance evaluations.
• Meets or exceeds objective metrics for employee engagement and turnover.
• Leads department-wide meetings, rounds on employees, and performance reviews.
• Builds strategic relationships across departments to achieve business goals.
• Oversees faculty recruitment, promotion, credentialing, and practice plan administration.
• Drives quality, service excellence, and cost-effectiveness in department operations.
• Manages budgets, billing, and financial processes for the department.
