A leading university in New York is seeking a Senior Dental Assistant to supervise and train dental assistants and students. The role involves preparing treatment areas, assisting during procedures, and maintaining infection control standards. This full-time position requires strong experience in an academic setting and offers a supportive work environment focused on diversity and inclusivity.
Required Qualifications: Must meet Civil Service standards and specifications, having passed the relevant Civil Service exam and be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service list. Provisional appointments may be made if there are insufficient acceptors on the list. Provisional appointees are required to pass the next Civil Service exam to attain permanent status.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience as a dental assistant in an academic setting, including training dental assistant students, and at least one year of operating room Dental Assistant experience.
*Incumbents performing sterilization duties may need current certification as a Certified Registered Central Service Technician or an equivalent credential.

Special Notes: Full-time, 37.5 hours/week, Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Nonexempt under FLSA, eligible for overtime. Salary includes location and geographic pay. Must pass background check and meet health and licensing requirements before employment. No visa sponsorship available.
Additional requirements: Pre-employment physical, references, and proof of licenses/certificates.
Position is essential and requires reporting even during emergencies.
