Job description

Sun River Health provides high-quality comprehensive primary, preventive, and behavioral health services to all individuals, regardless of insurance status or ability to pay, with a focus on underserved and vulnerable populations. We are a Federally Qualified, non-profit health center serving communities across Suffolk, Rockland, Orange, Dutchess, Ulster, Sullivan, Columbia, and Westchester counties. We are currently seeking a full-time Dental Assistant to join our team in Bay Street, Staten Island, NY.

Responsibilities of a Dental Assistant:
  1. Assist dentists and hygienists as needed and prepare/dismantle operatory for patient treatment.
  2. Check in patients and notify providers of patient arrival.
  3. Monitor and update patient charts, including entering visit data, adding sheets to medical records, and managing radiographs and treatment documents.
  4. Record patient appointment data daily, including no-shows, cancellations, emergencies, and payment sources.
  5. Take and process radiographs as directed.
  6. Assist with patient care under the supervision of dental professionals.
  7. Follow OSHA standards and CDC guidelines for infection control.
  8. Maintain supplies and instruments in the dental operatory.
  9. Manage dental laboratory tasks, including processing instruments and monitoring lab cases.
  10. Perform weekly and monthly sterilization equipment maintenance.
Qualifications:
  • High School diploma or GED (minimum).
  • Vocational or technical school diploma preferred.
  • At least 1 year of work-related experience.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish (oral and written) is required.

Sun River Health is committed to increasing access to healthcare and improving community health. We offer a salary range of $20.50 to $22.00 per hour for this full-time position.
