Job summary

TIAA is seeking a Plan Document Compliance Senior Lead to ensure defined contribution plan documents meet regulatory and client needs. This role advises on complex regulatory matters, leads document reviews, and collaborates with clients and internal teams to drive compliant plan design.

The position requires an attorney with Pension/ERISA experience, strong communication, and the ability to influence strategy across multiple stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Licensed attorney with experience in Pension/ERISA
• Experience reviewing and creating plan documents for various retirement plans
• Understanding of plan administration, design, provisions, and product offerings

Responsibilities

• Evaluates defined contribution plan documents for internal recordkeeping problems, compliance issues or client concerns.
• Provides new plan setup and review suggestions for plan design and/or administrative enhancements to influence client in using best practices while meeting client objectives.
• Provides comparative analysis of plan provisions and protected benefits for corporate mergers and acquisitions.
• Researches and resolves highly complex operational and regulatory compliance issues arising from client questions and internal plan document review activities.
• Conducts analysis of options if an operational error is discovered on the plan and communicates findings and alternatives.
• Analyzes impact of new regulations and legislation on client plan needs and processes; develops strategies to align with best practices.
• Maintains regulatory knowledge and educates team members and clients on developments.
• Serves as lead subject matter expert on defined contribution retirement plan document compliance and represents department in cross-functional initiatives.
