Job summary

Bounteous is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to manage production SQL Server environments across Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and AWS MySQL. You will author and optimize T-SQL, review schema changes, and tune performance through indexing and plan analysis.

Qualifications

• 6+ years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator with hands-on SQL Server expertise.
• Proficiency with Azure SQL Database and Azure SQL Managed Instance (and cloud-hosted databases).
• Advanced T-SQL skills, including DDL, DML, stored procedures, and query optimization.
• Ability to interpret execution plans and perform operator-level query analysis.
• Familiarity with Entity Framework SQL generation patterns and AI tooling in DB ops.

Responsibilities

• Administer and manage production SQL Server environments across Azure SQL Database, Azure SQL Managed Instance, and AWS MySQL.
• Author, review, and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, DML statements, and schema changes.
• Perform query performance tuning through execution plan analysis, indexing strategies, statistics management, and operator-level diagnostics.
• Collaborate with the lead architect to evaluate and implement decisions impacting production environments.
• Develop and maintain an understanding of production schemas, data flows, and system architecture.
• Support Entity Framework–based applications by analyzing generated SQL and recommending optimizations.
• Leverage AI tooling to enhance database operations, monitoring, and automation practices.
• Proactively identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, risks, and operational inefficiencies.
