Job summary

Foley is seeking a senior database professional to own reliability and performance of our SQL Server and Amazon Redshift environments. You will design HA/DR strategies, lead data warehouse operations in AWS, and optimize architecture for cost and scale.

You will partner with Data, Analytics, Product, and Infra teams to support reporting, AI use cases, and secure data access. The role requires cross-functional collaboration, AI fluency, and the ability to drive automation and proactive monitoring

Qualifications

• Experience managing production database environments.
• Deep expertise in Microsoft SQL Server performance tuning, indexing, and HA/DR.
• Strong AWS data warehouse experience with Amazon Redshift.
• Experience securing databases and managing access controls in regulated environments.
• Ability to collaborate with Product, Infrastructure, Engineering, and leadership teams.
• Demonstrated AI fluency and use of automation to improve reliability.
• Experience with AWS services (RDS, EC2, S3, IAM, monitoring/logging).
• Exposure to data engineering pipelines or analytics platforms.

Responsibilities

• Own database reliability, performance, and availability.
• Lead administration, monitoring, tuning, and optimization of SQL Server and Redshift.
• Design and maintain high availability, backup, and disaster recovery strategies.
• Lead data warehouse operations in AWS.
• Own AWS-based data warehouse architecture for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Partner with Data and Analytics teams to support reporting and AI use cases.
• Manage database security and access controls.
• Own database security across platforms, including encryption and auditing.
• Collaborate with Infrastructure and Security to meet compliance requirements.
• Identify and mitigate risks related to data access and availability.
• Work cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, Infrastructure, and Analytics teams.
• Communicate risks, tradeoffs, and recommendations clearly to leadership.
• Drive operational excellence and automation; improve reliability via scripting.
• Leverage modern tooling and AI-assisted capabilities to reduce manual work.
• AI FluentHelp drive our database architecture with systems thinking mindset.
• Use AI to maintain, scale, and improve DBA operations and architecture.
