Job summary

Scribe, a leading Workflow AI platform, is hiring a Senior Database Reliability Engineer. You’ll own the reliability, performance, and scalability of the data tier across PostgreSQL/Aurora, OpenSearch, Redis, and the CDC pipeline. You’ll shape schema, migrations, and incident response with a senior IC lens.

The role emphasizes ORM optimization (Django), production CDC pipelines, and extensive automation. Hybrid SF-based with remote PST options, offering equity and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• Deep PostgreSQL expertise including MVCC, latency tuning, and Aurora Serverless V2.
• Production experience with an ORM (Django, SQLAlchemy, etc.) at scale; anticipate SQL and N+1 issues.
• Hands-on experience with CDC pipelines, replication, and schema evolution in cloud data stacks.
• Strong automation, IaC (Terraform), and observability tooling in production environments.

Responsibilities

• Own database reliability across Aurora, OpenSearch, Redis, and the CDC pipeline.
• Improve Django ORM performance and add scalable CI checks and standards.
• Maintain CDC pipeline from Aurora through DMS to S3 Parquet and Snowflake; ensure safety.
• Build observability with pganalyze, CloudWatch, and Honeycomb to trace slow queries to users/deploys.
• Enhance multi-AZ resilience and failure recovery for the data tier.
• Create self-service tooling and dashboards for engineering and product teams.
