Alex Staff is hiring a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to own production PostgreSQL reliability and help scale our database estate across PostgreSQL, ClickHouse, MongoDB, and Redis. This hands-on role emphasizes automation, incident response, and self-service DBaaS capabilities, with a culture that values learning ClickHouse quickly, rigorous backups, and clear runbooks.

Qualifications

• Deep hands-on PostgreSQL experience in production environments.
• Strong Linux and infrastructure fundamentals.
• Automation skills with Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu, GitLab CI/CD.
• Ability to learn ClickHouse quickly and take ownership.
• English - upper-intermediate or higher.

Responsibilities

• Own production PostgreSQL reliability: HA design, replication, upgrades, backups, and tuning.
• Automate DBA workflows with Ansible, Terraform/OpenTofu, GitLab CI/CD, and runbooks.
• Support ClickHouse, MongoDB, and Redis; troubleshoot incidents and improve monitoring.
• Build self-service DBaaS capabilities for engineering teams.
• Improve observability with Grafana, metrics, logs, SLOs, alerts.
