Job summary

Medallia, Inc. is seeking a Senior Database Reliability Engineer to own production PostgreSQL clusters and contribute to a broader SaaS platform.

You will drive availability, performance, and lifecycle management, partnering with Site Reliability Engineering to scale and automate data services in a Kubernetes-based environment. The role emphasizes hands-on production work, incident response, and mentoring, with hybrid onsite presence in the US (Tysons Corner-like hybrid on some teams).

Qualifications

• 5+ years of PostgreSQL in production or SaaS environments.
• Strong knowledge of PostgreSQL internals (MVCC, vacuum, WAL, locking).
• Experience with capacity planning, backups, replication, and HA.

Responsibilities

• Own availability and performance of production PostgreSQL clusters.
• Manage lifecycle: provisioning, upgrades, scaling, decommissioning.
• Build monitoring/alerting reflecting service objectives over the DB estate.
• Deliver automation to replace recurring manual tasks across DB lifecycle.
• Lead incident reviews and deviate to blameless root-cause analysis.
• Mentor other DBREs and maintain runbooks and docs.
