McKesson Corporation is seeking a Senior Database Administrator to support and maintain enterprise PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server environments across on-premises and Azure. You will ensure availability, performance, security, and reliability while partnering with application development, infrastructure, and support teams.

The role emphasizes proactive problem solving, operational excellence, and collaboration in a fast-paced healthcare environment.

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent and 7+ years of relevant database administration experience in production environments.
Strong experience administering PostgreSQL and/or MS SQL Server in enterprise settings.
Experience with installation, configuration, performance tuning, security, backup/recovery, and high availability.
Proficiency with PL/pgSQL and/or T-SQL and query optimization.
Cloud experience, preferably Microsoft Azure, and automation via scripting.
Excellent communication and collaboration skills; ability to work independently in a cross-functional team.

Responsibilities

Design, install, configure, and support PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server databases across on-premises and Azure.
Monitor health and performance; identify bottlenecks and tune accordingly.
Develop and validate backup and disaster recovery processes.
Manage database security, access, auditing, and compliance.
Implement high-availability solutions like Always On and replication; manage failover.
