Job summary

McKesson seeks a highly experienced Lead Database Engineer to act as the technical authority for enterprise PostgreSQL and SQL Server across on-premises and Azure environments. Qualifications

• 10+ years of database administration/engineering experience.
• 5+ years in senior/lead/architect/enterprise technical leadership roles.
• 5+ years designing, operating, and optimizing databases in public cloud environments (Azure preferred).
• Expert-level PostgreSQL administration experience (HA, replication, performance tuning).
• Strong SQL Server / Azure SQL experience in enterprise production environments.
• Experience leading cross-functional database initiatives from concept to implementation.
• Mentoring engineers and DBAs while enforcing technical standards.

Responsibilities

• Own design, implementation, operation, and evolution of PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Azure SQL, and Azure PostgreSQL environments.
• Lead cloud modernization and migration initiatives with strategy, validation, and cutover planning.
• Establish database standards, reference architectures, runbooks, and roadmaps.
• Design highly available, cost-efficient database solutions including DR, backup, and failover.
