Job summary

McKesson Corporation is seeking a Lead Database Engineer to act as the technical authority for enterprise PostgreSQL and SQL Server platforms across on-premises and Azure environments. You will drive strategy, architecture, reliability, automation, and lifecycle management while partnering with multiple teams.

You will mentor DBAs/engineers, design highly available solutions, and lead complex migration projects with IaC, CI/CD, and security considerations.

Qualifications

Degree or equivalent and typically requires 10+ years of relevant experience in database administration or engineering.
5+ years in senior/lead/architect roles supporting production databases.
5+ years designing and operating databases in public cloud environments (Azure preferred).
Expert PostgreSQL administration including high availability and replication.
Strong SQL Server and Azure SQL production environment experience.

Responsibilities

Own design, implementation, operation, and evolution of PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and Azure databases.
Lead cloud modernization and migration initiatives, including strategy and cutover planning.
Establish standards, runbooks, governance, and platform roadmaps for scalability.
Design highly available, cost-efficient DB solutions with DR, backup, and failover.
Advance IaC and Database-as-Code via Terraform and Liquibase with CI/CD automation.
