Job summary

Grant Thornton seeks a Senior Associate for Data Transformation & Governance to embed governance, quality, stewardship, and compliance into data transformation initiatives across structured and unstructured content. You will partner with data owners, stewards, analytics, security, privacy, legal and risk teams to document governance requirements and support data readiness for analytics and decision-making.

You will inventory data estates, classify content, and help deliver governed data assets

Qualifications

4+ years of experience in data governance, data transformation, data management, data quality, data integration, records and information management, data privacy or analytics.
Experience supporting data governance activities within data migration, modernization, archival, analytics, or large-scale transformation programs.
Exposure to governing unstructured and semi-structured content alongside structured data (mail, file storage, collaboration platforms, service records).
Working knowledge of records retention practice, including retention categories, triggers, disposal timing, and evidence to support disposal.
Understanding of legal hold and preservation obligations and their effect on disposal activities.
Experience supporting merger/acquired-entity technology and data integration initiatives preferred.

Responsibilities

Support enterprise data governance frameworks for acquired-company integration, including standards, roles, ownership, stewardship routines, escalation paths, and metrics.
Embed governance requirements into data transformation initiatives (migration, integration, modernization, archival, analytics).
Build and maintain the data estate inventory for acquisitions, covering structured data and unstructured content.
Catalog acquired-company content by category, ownership, and disposition; keep inventory current during discovery.
Prepare handling recommendations for content categories for migration planning and teams to act on.
Document handling, access, and protection requirements for regulated material and client-confidential data.
Prepare and maintain ownership records for data domains and approvals for new or changed use.
