Job summary

Camunda in the United States is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Streaming team to build a durable streaming layer that decouples process data access from the live engine. You will join a greenfield effort shaping architecture and analytics products from day one.

You will collaborate with product, Data Layer, and Distributed Systems teams in a remote-first environment, influencing direction and delivering scalable streaming capabilities along with reliable data ownership.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend engineering in Java
• Strong experience with distributed systems
• Experience with Kafka or similar streaming systems
• Hands-on with object storage (S3/GCS/Azure) and reliable upload/commit protocols
• Proven track record leading medium-to-large engineering projects end-to-end

Responsibilities

• Design and build core streaming infrastructure decoupling data access from the live engine
• Develop customer-facing data streaming capabilities and integration with systems like Kafka
• Redesign Camunda's analytics data consumption and distribution at scale
• Make architecture decisions in a compact, high-ownership team
• Participate in on-call rotations and collaborate with Support and SRE to resolve data-layer issues
