Job summary

Camunda is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Data Streaming team, building a durable streaming layer and analytics products. You’ll mainly work in Java on distributed systems and partner with product, the Data Layer, and SRE to shape architecture from day one.

As a remote-first role, you’ll influence data streaming capabilities and contribute to scalable solutions that power customer data access beyond the engine.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of backend engineering experience in Java.
• Strong background in distributed systems fundamentals.
• Experience with object storage systems (S3/GCS/Azure) and idempotent upload/commit protocols.
• Experience with Kafka or similar streaming systems.

Responsibilities

• Design and build the core streaming infrastructure decoupling data access from the live engine.
• Develop customer-facing data streaming capabilities with Kafka integration.
• Advance analytics data consumption and ensure it runs off the engine's critical path.
• Make foundational architecture decisions in a small, high-ownership team.
• Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations with SRE.
