Job summary

Camunda is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Data Streaming team to build a durable streaming layer that decouples data access from the live engine. You’ll contribute from day one on a greenfield project shaping both architecture and team scope, with strong collaboration across product, data, and QA in a remote-first environment.

You’ll help design scalable streaming infrastructure, enable reliable data delivery to customer tools, and evolve analytics consumption, all while maintaining

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience as a backend engineer with Java and distributed/data-intensive systems.
• Strong experience with streaming architectures and data access patterns.
• Hands-on with object storage (S3/GCS/Azure) and idempotent upload/commit protocols.
• Experience with Kafka or similar streaming/event-log systems.
• Knowledge of distributed systems fundamentals and scaling complex pipelines.
• Proven history leading medium-to-large engineering initiatives end-to-end.
• Excellent communication in a remote-first setting.

Responsibilities

• Design and build core streaming infrastructure decoupling process data access from the live engine.
• Develop customer-facing streaming capabilities and integrate with systems like Kafka.
• Rework analytics product data consumption and scalability beyond the engine's path.
• Make architectural decisions in a small, high-ownership team.
• Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations with cross-team collaboration.
