Job summary

Camunda is the enterprise platform for agentic orchestration, enabling organizations to coordinate AI agents, people, and systems across complex, end-to-end business processes. As a Backend Software Engineer on the Data Layer team, you’ll help build the storage and query layer powering Camunda 8’s process data at scale.

You’ll work with relational databases and Elasticsearch/OpenSearch, shaping storage, streaming data, and evolving secondary storage to meet growing demand in a remote-first

Qualifications

• 4+ years as a backend engineer with production data stores.
• Strong design for scalable backend systems and data pipelines.
• Ability to work effectively in a remote-first team.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain backend services for the data layer.
• Own end-to-end delivery of engineering initiatives with product teams.
• Evolve data processing, retention, and exposure of process data.
• Improve secondary storage performance and build operable tooling.
• Participate in L3 support and on-call rotations; feed learnings back to product.
