Job summary

Databricks is seeking a Sr. Solution Engineer to drive customer success by designing architectures on the Databricks platform, leading technical engagements, and guiding customers through implementation. You will collaborate with sales, post-sales, and product teams to craft value-driven solutions and proofs of concept.

You will build relationships, create reference architectures, and promote open-source Databricks projects across communities, traveling to customer sites as needed.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in a customer-facing pre-sales, technical architecture, or consulting role.
• Experience designing and architecting distributed data systems.
• Comfortable programming in and debugging Python, Scala, Java, SQL or R.
• Experience supporting Public Sector clients.
• Have built solutions with public cloud providers such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Expertise in Data Engineering (Spark, Hadoop, Kafka) or Data Warehousing (SQL, OLTP/OLAP/DSS) or Data Science/ML (pandas, scikit-learn).
• Degree in a quantitative discipline (Computer Science, Applied Math, OR).
• Secret security clearance or willingness to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Partner with the sales team to help customers understand how Databricks can help solve their business problems.
• Provide technical leadership for customers to evaluate and adopt Databricks.
• Consult on big data architecture, implement proofs of concepts for strategic customer projects, data science and ML projects, and validate integrations with cloud services and other 3rd party applications.
• Build and present reference architectures, how-tos, and demo applications for customers.
• Become an expert in Databricks open-source projects (Apache Spark, Delta Lake, MLflow, Koalas) and promote them across developer communities.
• Travel to customers in your region.
