Job summary

The Hartford seeks a Staff Data Site Reliability Engineer to protect data integrity, quality and availability across critical data assets. You will partner with the SRE team on the data journey, applying reliability patterns to Informatica pipelines and cloud services, while driving automation to reduce toil.

Core responsibilities include establishing SLOs, implementing observability, and leading incident reviews.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 5+ years of infrastructure, data or related tech experience with increasing responsibilities.
3+ years in Data Engineering, Data Quality, or a dedicated SRE role within an enterprise data environment.
Hands-on with data warehousing and data lake tech (Snowflake) and cloud environments (AWS/GCP).
Experience with ETL pipelines using SSIS/SSMS and data-centric operations.

Responsibilities

Establish and enforce data service level objectives focused on data freshness, completeness and accuracy.
Implement data observability to monitor the end-to-end data journey and detect anomalies in real-time.
Collaborate with Data Engineering to embed reliability patterns in Informatica-based pipelines on EMR/Hadoop.
Automate data validation, reprocessing, backfilling and other toil-reducing tasks in the data lifecycle.
Lead incident response for data-related issues and perform blameless post-mortems.
